Police Deploy Inafis Team to Investigate Cause of Pullman Grogol Hotel Fire
The police are investigating the exact cause of the fire that struck the Pullman Hotel on Jalan Letjen S. Parman, Tanjung Duren Selatan, Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta, on Saturday morning (1/8). The Indonesian National Police Forensic Laboratory (Labfor) team is scheduled to be deployed to the crime scene.
The Chief of Grogol Petamburan Police, AKP Reza Aditya, confirmed that police authorities have not yet been able to conclude the primary cause of the flames in the building area. “For the time being, the cause of the fire is not yet known for certain. The forensic team will descend directly to conduct an investigation at the scene,” said AKP Reza Aditya in Jakarta, Saturday (1/8).
Reza added that as an initial step in the investigation, the Indonesia Automatic Fingerprint Identification System (Inafis) team from the West Jakarta Metro Police Criminal Investigation Unit has been at the scene to perform initial identification. “The Police Inafis team has already been to the location. Subsequently, the forensic team will also descend. We will provide further updates as information develops,” Reza added.
Separately, the Acting Head of the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat), Syaiful Kahfi, explained that his personnel responded swiftly to the emergency call received at 07:59 WIB. “Our officers were dispatched just one minute after the report was received,” Syaiful asserted.
To combat the blaze, the West Jakarta Fire and Rescue Service deployed 14 fire engines and 70 personnel to the site. The intensive firefighting operation, which began at 08:05 WIB, successfully localised the spread of the fire within a short period. “The situation at the fire site is currently under control. Officers have been conducting the cooling process since 08:15 WIB to ensure there are no remaining hotspots that could trigger a secondary fire,” said Syaiful.
As of the time of this report, the handling status at the Pullman Hotel area remains in the yellow category, with firefighters remaining on full alert at the location to complete the thorough cooling process. Relevant authorities have not yet released official details regarding the total estimated material losses or casualties resulting from the incident.
