The National Police has positioned five patrol vessels at strategic national maritime routes and assembled joint personnel to address potential emergency situations in waters during the 2026 Lebaran homecoming period.

Deputy National Police Commander Komjen Pol. Dedi Prasetyo stated that this preparedness is part of the police’s commitment to providing maximum protection to the public through measured anticipatory measures and rapid field response. “We do not wish for it, but emergency contingency situations should water accidents occur have already been prepared,” Dedi said whilst inspecting the Port Security Post at Bakauheni, Lampung, on Tuesday, according to official statements.

Five main vessels have been positioned at strategic points along the national sea route as reinforcement:

  • KP BIMA – 7014 (Class A3) – Ketapang Port, East Java

  • KP KASTURI – 6002 (Class B1/B2) – Lembar Port, West Nusa Tenggara

  • KP MANYAR – 5003 (Class B2) – Gilimanuk Port, Bali

  • KP GELATIK – 5016 (Class B2) – Merak Port, Banten

  • KP GAGAK – 3011 (Class C1) – Bakauheni Port, Lampung

As an example of deployment readiness, the Merak–Bakauheni crossing route has been equipped with 16 combined vessels and 320 personnel from the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the Maritime Police (Polair), the National Police, and other maritime stakeholders.

In these preparations, the National Police has prioritised a real-time data-driven approach to risk mitigation. Detailed calculations of safety equipment requirements such as life jackets, fleet readiness, and evacuation scenarios have been undertaken to minimise potential fatalities.

The National Police predicts increased homebound traffic at several strategic ports, including Bakauheni Port, beginning mid-March 2026, with peak travel anticipated on 18–19 March 2026. Return traffic is estimated to occur on 24–25 March 2026 and 28–29 March 2026.

The National Police has also urged the public to utilise the emergency hotline 110 that has been established. All personnel have been instructed to prioritise rapid response times so that every public report can be followed up quickly, accurately, and professionally.
