Police Deploy 900 Personnel to Secure Demonstration in Central Jakarta

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The police have deployed 900 joint personnel from Polda Metro Jaya, Central Jakarta Metro Police, and sector police to secure a demonstration in the Central Jakarta area on Thursday.

Central Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head, Iptu Erlyn Sumantri, stated that the demonstration would be held by Cipayung Plus South Jakarta (LMND, HMP MPO, GMNI, PMKRI, HMI DIPO, SEMMI, PMII, IMM & KAMMI) and several other mass elements.

“Security measures for the demonstration by Cipayung Plus South Jakarta (LMND, HMP MPO, GMNI, PMKRI, HMI DIPO, SEMMI, PMII, IMM & KAMMI) and several mass elements in the Gambir area, with the activity planned for 11.00 WIB,” Erlyn said in a written statement in Jakarta on Thursday.

A second demonstration will be held by the Central Executive Board of Go Graber Indonesia in the DPR/MPR RI complex, with the activity scheduled for 2.00 p.m. WIB.

Officers will implement situational traffic diversions at the demonstration points, taking into account the number of participants on the ground. The public is advised to avoid the areas around the demonstrations to anticipate traffic congestion.
