Police deploy 4,500 personnel to secure Easter celebrations in Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Metro Jaya Regional Police are deploying 4,500 personnel to secure Easter worship celebrations, or the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, observed on Friday (3/8) in the DKI Jakarta area and its surroundings. “The presence of these personnel is intended to ensure that the Christian community can worship safely, comfortably, and reverently. The total force prepared reaches 4,500 personnel,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Pol Budi Hermanto, in his statement on Thursday. Budi stated that personnel will be placed at churches, crowded points, and locations that serve as centres of Christian activities during the Easter celebrations. According to him, the presence of police in the field is not only to maintain law and order but also as a form of service to the community. “We are preparing 4,500 personnel to ensure that the entire series of Easter worship runs safely and smoothly. The presence of personnel in the field is also a form of our service so that the Christian community can worship calmly and comfortably,” said Budi. “We want the presence of the National Police to truly be felt by the community as protectors, nurturers, and servants. Therefore, this Easter security is not only oriented towards security aspects but also towards service to the congregation so that worship can proceed peacefully and smoothly,” said Budi. In addition, Metro Jaya Regional Police also urge the public to remain alert and immediately report to officers or via the 110 service if they find anything suspicious. “With the readiness of personnel and the services provided, it is hoped that the 2026 Easter celebration series can proceed safely, orderly, and full of peace,” said Budi.
