Police Deploy 4,132 Personnel to Secure Protest in Central Jakarta

A total of 4,132 joint police personnel from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Central Jakarta Metro Police, and sector police have been deployed to secure a protest in the Central Jakarta area on Friday. Central Jakarta Metro Police Public Relations Head Iptu Erlyn Sumantri stated that the protest would be held by the Banten Bangkit Coalition and several other mass elements. “Security is being provided for a protest by the People’s Struggle Council Alliance (a coalition of BEM UNJ, BEM Trilogi University, BEM STIAMI Institute, BEM Paramadina University) in the Monas area, with the activity planned for 1 p.m. Western Indonesia Time,” Erlyn said in a written statement on Friday. Officers are also on standby at several other points to anticipate additional protests. Traffic diversions will be implemented situationally at the protest site, taking into account the number of demonstrators on the ground. The public is advised to avoid the area around the protest to prevent traffic congestion.
