JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Indonesian Police (Polri) have deployed 317,666 personnel to secure the Takbiran night of Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah through the implementation of Operation Ketupat 2026. This measure aims to ensure that public security and order (kamtibmas) remain safe and conducive across all regions of Indonesia during the peak of Lebaran celebrations. “This year’s security involves a total of 317,666 personnel deployed to ensure that the kamtibmas situation remains safe and conducive throughout Indonesia,” said the Head of the Public Relations Task Force for Operation Ketupat 2026, Brigadier General Pol Tjahyono, in his statement on Friday (20/3/2026). In addition to personnel, Polri has prepared 2,746 operational posts consisting of 1,624 security posts, 779 service posts, and 343 integrated posts spread across various strategic locations. A total of 121,803 mosques and 54,561 Eid prayer locations are prioritised for security. Furthermore, officers are also deployed at 618 terminals, 562 ports, 182 airports, and 268 train stations. Security also covers 2,966 shopping centres and 4,647 recreational tourist sites. Tjahyono assured that all regional police units are ready to carry out security, especially at places of worship. “Security has been prepared by the regional units for mosques or places of worship that will be used for Eid prayers. So all regional units are fully ready to provide security,” he said. All personnel are also deployed to anticipate various potential disruptions to kamtibmas, from traffic congestion, takbir processions, to increased public activity in crowded centres. Security is carried out in an integrated manner with the Indonesian National Armed Forces and several other stakeholders. Polri urges the public to celebrate Takbiran night in an orderly manner and to avoid actions that could potentially disrupt security. The public is asked not to light firecrackers or fireworks that could endanger their own safety or that of others. In emergency situations, the public can utilise Polri’s hotline service at number 110, available 24 hours. “With the readiness of personnel, facilities and infrastructure, as well as cross-sector synergy, Polri is optimistic that the implementation of Takbiran night and Eid al-Fitr 2026 can run safely, smoothly, and conducive,” he concluded.
