Police Deploy 3,225 Combined Personnel to Secure Protest in Central Jakarta

Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort is deploying 3,225 combined personnel to secure protest actions held by students from various universities and elements of society in the Central Jakarta area. “We are present to serve the public in expressing their aspirations in a humane, professional manner, and in accordance with the rules,” said the Chief of Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Resort, Kombes Pol Reynold E.P. Hutagalung, in Jakarta on Monday. According to him, 3,225 combined personnel from the Metro Jaya Regional Police, Police Resorts, and Police Sectors under its jurisdiction are on standby to handle the protest action. Reynold assured that the security is carried out with the principle of serving the public and respecting citizens’ constitutional rights to express opinions in public. “There are 3,225 combined personnel to handle the protest action,” he stated. The protest points from BEM SI and Kerakyatan as well as the Civil Society Coalition are held in front of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology RI, with the event planned for 11:00 WIB. There is also a protest action from the Executive Board of Students of Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta State Islamic University (DEMA UIN) and several mass elements in the Gambir area at 10:00 WIB. In addition, a protest is also held by the Executive Board of Students of Indraprasta PGRI University (BEM Unindra) in front of the MPR/DPR building at 11:00 WIB.
