Police Deploy 200 Personnel to Evacuate Residents Affected by Kemayoran Fire
A fire has struck a densely populated residential area on Kemayoran Gempol Street, Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta (Jakpus). The Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police (Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat) deployed approximately 200 combined personnel to assist in evacuating affected residents.
Central Jakarta Metropolitan Police Chief Kombes Reynold Hutagalung stated that police, TNI (military), local government, and Brimob personnel were deployed to assist in rescuing residents, securing salvageable belongings, and supporting firefighting efforts.
‘At present, police, TNI, and local government officials are on-site, with approximately 200 personnel from Central Jakarta Police, Metro Jakarta Police, and Brimob assisting in evacuations,’ said Reynold at the scene, reported by Antara on Tuesday, 2 June 2026.
In addition to evacuation efforts, officers have implemented traffic management and closed several access roads to the fire site to allow fire trucks and ambulances to move more quickly.
According to Reynold, the affected area is a densely populated residential zone with approximately 400 to 500 households (KK), according to local RW officials.
‘This area in RW 04, Kebon Kosong Village, is indeed densely populated, and we spoke with the RW head who confirmed around 400 to 500 households,’ he said.
Firefighters (damkar) have reportedly increased personnel deployment to the Kemayoran fire site. Authorities have successfully prevented the flames from spreading to other structures.
‘The fire is currently under control and being cooled down,’ said Central Jakarta Mayor Arifin to detikcom on Monday, 2 June.
Currently, 165 firefighters are battling the blaze, with officers working to prevent the fire from spreading further.
‘35 units and 165 personnel have been deployed,’ said the Command Center of Jakarta’s Fire and Rescue Department (Gulkarmat).
The fire was reported to the fire department at 8:55 PM WIB on Monday, 1 June. Firefighting operations began at 9:05 PM WIB.
The cause and timeline of the fire remain unknown, and there are no final reports on casualties.
