Police Deploy 161,000 Personnel to Secure Eid Holiday Travel
The Indonesian National Police (Polri) has announced that 161,243 combined personnel have been deployed under Operation Ketupat 2026 to secure the Eid holiday travel period. A total of 2,746 security posts have been established at various strategic locations.
“In Operation Ketupat 2026, Polri is deploying 161,243 combined personnel consisting of Polri members and related agencies,” said Deputy Police Chief General Dedi Prasetyo during a press conference on Eid holiday travel preparations at Bina Graha Building, Central Jakarta, Wednesday (11 March 2026).
“Polri has also prepared 2,746 security posts, consisting of 1,624 security posts, 779 service posts, and 343 integrated posts,” he added.
Additionally, Polri has mapped high-density locations during the Eid period across all regions. The operation covers not only mudik routes but also areas likely to experience congestion during the Eid holiday.
“Polri has also identified several main arterial routes requiring special attention, including Nagreg, Legian Bali, routes to Lake Toba, Gadog Puncak, and Simpang Tiga Mengkreng. Additionally, there are several ferry crossing routes being monitored, including Surabaya, Ketapang-Gilimanuk, Bali-Lombok, and Merak-Bakauheni,” Dedy added.
During the occasion, Dedi emphasised that this year’s holiday travel security relies not only on conventional traffic engineering such as one-way systems or contraflow operations, but also prioritises public service transformation through emergency response digitalisation.
“Polri is also continuously improving service to the public through various facilities, including the 110 emergency service that is accessible to the public during mudik travel,” he stated.
He explained that the 110 service is designed to streamline reporting procedures whilst accelerating field response times. During emergencies on mudik routes—whether accidents, security disturbances, or vehicle technical problems—residents can directly contact the nearest Police Regional Command (Polda) or Police District (Polres) Command Centre.
“We want to ensure that police presence can be felt within the palm of your hand through the 110 service. When reports are received, the system will track the reporter’s location and instruct officers at the nearest post to respond within minutes,” he explained.
