Police Deploy 103 Personnel to Manage Traffic Congestion on Homecoming and Tourism Routes in Cimahi-West Bandung
The Traffic Management Team of Cimahi Police is prepared to be deployed for the Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026 security operation on homecoming and tourism routes in Cimahi City and West Bandung Regency. They will be on standby to assist homebound travellers and tourists whilst clearing congestion with humanitarian service.
“We are directing 103 personnel specifically for the traffic management team,” said Cimahi Police Chief, AKBP Niko Nurallah Adi Putra when confirmed on Sunday (15 March 2026).
He stated that the traffic management team will be deployed across three predetermined zones. These are the northern zone covering the Lembang, Cisarua and Parongpong areas. In addition to alternative homecoming routes, this area is also predicted to be crowded during the 2026 Eid holiday.
Then there is the western zone from Cipatat and Cikalongwetan to the Padalarang area, which is the main route for homebound motorcyclists, and the eastern zone from Padalarang towards Cimahi City, which is the main access route for those heading to Bandung and East Priangan regions such as Garut, Tasikmalaya and surrounding areas.
“We are dividing operations across three zones requiring security: the northern zone, then also the western zone and the eastern zone,” said Niko.
Besides the traffic management team, police have also prepared traffic engineering schemes in the form of partial one-way systems to anticipate congestion during the Eid homecoming surge in Cimahi City, West Bandung Regency and Margaasih. The scheme will be implemented whilst considering conditions on the ground.
“Of course there will be engineering with partial one-way systems from the North-South direction or from West to East or vice versa,” said Niko.
Police have also mapped routes identified as congestion hotspots requiring special attention based on evaluations from the 2025 homecoming period. These are at Pasar Tagog Apu, Cimareme Junction and Beatrik Junction.
“These are three trouble spots requiring concentration. For the Cimahi area, certainly as mentioned earlier, some trouble spots are less about formal markets but more about impromptu markets,” said Niko.
Niko stated that more than 600 police personnel are being deployed to escort and secure the homecoming and return traffic during Eid 2026 in the Cimahi Police jurisdiction. They will be on duty throughout the Operation Ketupat Lodaya 2026 which runs from 13-25 March 2026.
“This demonstrates our readiness to manage the Eid holiday or Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah celebrations. We have 667 personnel distributed, with operations lasting approximately 13 days,” said Niko.
Police predict homebound traffic to and through the Cimahi Police jurisdiction will begin on 14-15 March 2026 due to the implementation of work from anywhere (WFA) policies, and a second wave on 18-19 March 2026 coinciding with Nyepi Day.
“Given that Monday and Tuesday have WFA policies in place for approximately 80 per cent of businesses based in Jakarta, we expect to receive the first wave of homebound travellers starting Friday afternoon or possibly Saturday morning,” said Niko.
