Police Deploy 1,596 Personnel to Secure Takbiran Night in Jakarta

Personnel have been deployed to key points to anticipate potential disruptions to public security and order, as well as to ensure that community activities proceed safely and conducive, said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief Kombes Pol Reynold E.P. Hutagalung in Jakarta on Friday. He stated that personnel from the Polres and its sub-district police stations have been deployed to strengthen security at several vulnerable points. According to him, the total comprises 1,596 personnel, consisting of 1,459 from Polda Metro Jaya, 124 from Polres Metro Jakarta Pusat and its affiliates, and 13 from related agencies such as Satpol PP and the Transportation Department. “All personnel have immediately moved to occupy their respective security locations to oversee the Takbiran night in Central Jakarta,” he said. “All series of Idul Fitri activities, both starting today and tomorrow, are expected to proceed safely, orderly, and smoothly without significant obstacles,” said Komarudin. Based on analysis and evaluation over seven days of operations, he added, crime rates in the Polda Metro Jaya jurisdiction have been reduced by up to 38 percent compared to the previous year. However, traffic accident figures have recorded an increase of 12 percent. At present, he continued, security has entered the third phase, namely securing community activities celebrating Lebaran within the city. “We have urged the public not to conduct convoys during Takbiran night and to prioritise activities in their respective neighbourhoods,” he said.
