Police: Dashrun Pakansari Reduces Negative Activities During Ramadhan
A weekly speed running activity held every Saturday night until early morning has been organised by the Bogor Regency Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda) in collaboration with the Indonesian Sports Committee (Kormi) Bogor and various local running communities.
Brigadier General Wirdhanto Hadicaksono, Director of Special Criminal Investigation at West Java Police Regional Command and serving as the Regional Observer Officer (Pamatwil) for West Java Police, commended the Bogor Police District’s initiative in providing positive activities for young people during the fasting month.
“We from the West Java Police Regional Command appreciate the Bogor Police District for organising the dashrun activity during Ramadhan in collaboration with Kormi and running communities. This is very positive for the empowerment and development of young people,” Wirdhanto said at Pakansari Stadium in the early hours of Sunday.
According to him, nurturing young people during Ramadhan requires the right approach to channel their energy towards beneficial activities.
“Managing young people during the holy month of Ramadhan is not easy. Without proper direction, they could become involved in negative activities. With activities like this, they have a space to channel their energy and potential through sport,” he said.
He added that officially facilitated sporting activities also assist the police in developing and monitoring young people’s activities, thereby reducing potential security disturbances.
“Youth development must create space for them. With sporting activities like this, negative activities and criminality can certainly decrease,” he said.
Meanwhile, Bogor Police District Chief Senior Commissioner Wikha Ardilestanto stated that the dashrun activity at Pakansari received enthusiastic community support, including from athletes and sports enthusiasts who arrived after learning about the event through social media.
“This is extraordinary; national athletes who won medals at the SEA Games came after seeing information about this activity on Instagram and were keen to participate in the dashrun at Pakansari,” he said.
Wikha explained that the dashrun activity was deliberately centred within Pakansari Stadium to avoid disrupting public activities on main roads and to ensure greater safety and order.
“We changed the location from the usual road-based route to within the Pakansari Sports Hall area so that sporting activities continue to run without disrupting road functions and community activities,” he said.
He hopes the activity will develop into a larger running community in Bogor Regency so that young sporting talents can continue to develop and channel their abilities through positive activities.
