Police Crack Down on Misuse of Subsidised Fuel and LPG, Pertamina Issues Statement

Pertamina Patra Niaga appreciates the firm and consistent steps taken by the Indonesian National Police through Bareskrim Polri in further uncovering criminal acts of misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG during the period from 7 to 20 April 2026 across Indonesia. This effort represents a joint commitment to strengthen oversight of the distribution of subsidised BBM and LPG to ensure it remains on target amid various challenges, including global dynamics. Through these measures, it is hoped that the availability, affordability, and access to energy for entitled communities will be maintained. On this occasion, Deputy Chief of Bareskrim Polri, Inspector General Pol Nunung Syaifuddin, emphasised the importance of ensuring that the distribution of subsidised BBM and LPG truly reaches the rightful recipients. “There are still parties who turn the state’s subsidies into a field for illegal profits. They buy subsidised BBM and LPG, then transfer, hoard, adulterate, and resell at industrial prices to reap multiple profits due to the significant price disparity. POLRI will not give even the slightest room to energy crime perpetrators. We must ensure that every rupiah of state subsidy truly reaches the entitled community,” Nunung asserted. Nunung also stressed that law enforcement will be carried out comprehensively without favouritism. “We have committed that whoever is involved, whether from TNI or POLRI members, we will take firm action. Hopefully, this can provide a deterrent effect, both to rogue officials and business actors,” he continued. Meanwhile, Director of Tipidter at Bareskrim Polri, Brigadier General Pol Moh. Irhamni, also shared the results of uncovering criminal acts of misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG during the period from 7 to 21 April 2026 as a continuation of Bareskrim Polri’s strong commitment to law enforcement across Indonesia. “The efforts we have carried out over 13 days have achieved results with the securing of 330 suspects in 223 scenes of the crime. The modus operandi found include repeated purchases of subsidised BBM for hoarding and resale, use of vehicles with modified tanks, use of fake number plates to avoid oversight, and transfer of subsidised LPG contents to non-subsidy cylinders,” Irhamni explained. Irhamni added that this uncovering is inseparable from collaboration among various parties. “This success is inseparable from the synergy between POLRI, TNI, Attorney General’s Office, PPATK, Pertamina, SKK Migas, as well as support from the community and media colleagues. We are committed to enforcing the law firmly, professionally, transparently, and justly, especially in securing subsidised BBM and LPG from misuse,” he added. Director of Retail Marketing at Pertamina Patra Niaga, Eko Ricky Susanto, stated that Pertamina Patra Niaga fully supports the law enforcement steps taken by Bareskrim POLRI as an effort to keep the distribution of subsidised energy optimal. “We appreciate the firm steps and consistency of the Indonesian National Police in uncovering the misuse of subsidised BBM and LPG across Indonesia. Pertamina Patra Niaga will continue to synergise with law enforcement authorities. Pertamina Patra Niaga is also consistent in conducting oversight and ensuring the distribution of BBM and LPG subsidies in accordance with regulations, reasonably, and on target for the entitled community,” said Eko Ricky. Furthermore, Eko Ricky added that Pertamina Patra Niaga is also continuously strengthening oversight of distribution institutions through guidance and enforcement. “In the period from January to March 2026, we have conducted 136 guidances for BBM distribution institutions and 237 guidances for LPG distribution institutions, both SPBU and LPG agents. If legal violations are proven, we will carry out Business Relationship Termination (PHU) against those distribution institutions,” he asserted.
