The Kuantan Singingi (Kuansing) Police, through the Benai Police Sector, have once again taken action against Unlicensed Gold Mining (PETI) activities. During the operation in Muara Langsat Village, Sentajo Raya District, Kuansing Regency, police destroyed two ‘dompeng’ mining rafts.

The enforcement was carried out based on information received by the police from local residents regarding PETI activities that were causing concern among the community. Following up on this information, the Criminal Investigation Unit of the Benai Police Sector, led by Ipda Tri Hari, conducted an investigation and visited the location on Monday (21/09/2026).

Upon arrival at the site, personnel discovered equipment used for illegal gold mining activities in the form of rafts. However, no perpetrators were found at the scene when officers arrived.

Officers immediately took decisive action by burning the two illegal mining rafts to serve as a deterrent.

The Kuantan Singingi Police Chief, AKBP Hidayat Perdana, stated that this action is part of the police’s efforts to prevent PETI activities that have the potential to cause environmental damage and disturb public security.

“The Kuantan Singingi Police, along with the Police Sector ranks, continue to take preventive and enforcement measures against PETI activities. Every piece of information from the community will be followed up according to the conditions on the ground,” Hidayat said in his statement on Tuesday (22/09/2026).

The Police Chief also urged the public to refrain from engaging in unlicensed mining activities and invited citizens to report any known PETI activities in their area to the police.
