Police confiscate firecrackers

DEMAK, Central Java: Police seized yesterday 40 sacks
containing 40,000 firecrackers from Mustofa, 34, a resident of
Guntur village in Guntur subdistrict.

Demak police chief Lt. Col. Muharso, who led the raid after
being tipped off by some locals, told The Jakarta Post the
firecrackers might have been produced for sale during the
upcoming Idul Fitri holiday.

Police promised to keep an eye out for any violation of the
ban on firecrackers. (har)
