Police confiscate 13,000 ecstasy pills
JAKARTA: City police confiscated on Sunday 13,000 ecstasy pills, 95 grams of shabu-shabu, or crystal methamphetamine, and thousands of counterfeit cigarettes in a raid on two warehouses in Taman Palem, Cengkareng, West Jakarta, an officer said on Monday.
The head of the police's narcotics unit, Sr. Comr. Carlo Tewu, said the alleged manufacturer of the ecstasy, identified as MT, had been detained.
The suspect told police he started producing ecstasy six months ago and hired 30 people to operate the factory.
Carlo said the suspect would be charged under Law No. 5/1997 on psychotropics, Law No. 15/2001 on trademarks and Law No. 23/1992 on health. -- JP
