Police confirm two Bekasi Timur accident victims alive despite initial reports of serious injuries

BEKASI — Police revealed the condition of FNM (23) and RKY (22), two victims of a single-vehicle accident on Jalan H Nonon Sonthanie in Duren Jaya Village, Bekasi Timur District, Bekasi City, which occurred on Monday (25 May 2026) evening. Rawalumbu Police Station Public Relations Officer Aiptu Kuwati Asih stated that both victims are currently receiving medical treatment for injuries sustained in the accident. ‘Both victims are alive and receiving emergency medical treatment at Bekasi City General Hospital’s emergency department due to injuries from the single-vehicle accident,’ Kuwati said when contacted via message on Tuesday (26 May 2026). Patko 9401 personnel from Rawalumbu Police Station, namely Aiptu Arif Budi W and Bripka Ade, were deployed to inspect the accident scene. ‘However, upon arrival, the victims had already been evacuated by locals to Bekasi City General Hospital for medical treatment,’ he said. Police then proceeded to the hospital to verify the victims’ details, coordinate with the Metro Bekasi City Traffic Accident Unit, and ensure medical care was provided. ‘Initially, the driver attempted to avoid a pothole, causing the vehicle to lose control and overturn,’ Kuwati said. However, police are still conducting further investigations to determine the exact cause of the accident. Kompas.com’s observations on Tuesday afternoon showed remnants of the accident at the scene. Glass shards and vehicle debris were scattered along the roadside. The road at the site appeared uneven with several long potholes. The route is a busy thoroughfare, particularly during rush hour and school dismissal times.
