Police Confirm Simpang Empat-Talu Road Reopens After Landslide

The provincial road access to Talu Talamau was temporarily severed by a landslide on Saturday night (25/7), but has since been reopened thanks to collaborative efforts. The landslide occurred at Pesanggiang Jorong Perhimpunan Nagari Talu, Talamau District, at 6:30 p.m. WIB following heavy rainfall.

West Pasaman Police Chief AKBP Agung Tribawanto, accompanied by Talamau Police Chief Iptu Fifriki Candra, confirmed on Sunday that the route is now passable. ‘Access to Talu Talamau was cut off due to the landslide on Saturday night. Thanks to cooperation from all parties, the road can now be traversed by vehicles,’ he stated.

Under the leadership of Iptu Fifriki Candra, police personnel were deployed to the scene to provide assistance, conduct inspections, and manage traffic flow. They coordinated with the West Pasaman Regency Government, particularly the Public Works Department, to bring in heavy equipment for clearing the landslide material. With joint efforts from the Talamau Police, the local government, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), the debris was successfully cleared, and the road was reopened to vehicles by around 11:30 p.m. WIB on Saturday.

Motorists are urged to remain vigilant when travelling along the Talu Talamau route. The Talamau District is predominantly hilly and prone to natural disasters such as landslides, fallen trees, and flooding. The region was also the epicentre of an earthquake in 2022 and was hit by hydrometeorological disasters in November 2025, which caused soil and road cracks, increasing the risk of landslides and road subsidence. Authorities and the joint team have also encouraged the formation of disaster response teams in every village (nagari) within Talamau District to act as first responders before assistance arrives from the regency level.
