Police Confirm Roy Suryo Case Proceeds to Prosecutors Despite Partial Praperadilan Victory

Jakarta – Polda Metro Jaya has stated that the legal process against Roy Suryo will continue, even though the South Jakarta District Court partially granted his pretrial motion. Police emphasised that the handling of the case has now entered the prosecution stage, after the case file, evidence, and the suspect were transferred to the public prosecutor.

Head of Legal Affairs at Polda Metro Jaya, Commissioner Abrianto Pardede, said that further action on the case is entirely in the hands of the public prosecutor. “The case file, evidence, and so on have already reached stage two and been handed over to the prosecutor’s office; the public prosecutor will proceed with it,” Abrianto told reporters on Wednesday, 8 July 2026. This statement confirms that the pretrial ruling, which partially granted Roy Suryo’s petition, does not halt the handling of the case, which has already entered the second stage.

It was previously reported that Roy Suryo achieved a partial victory in a pretrial hearing held at the South Jakarta District Court on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. The sole judge, I Ketut Darpawan, declared that several coercive measures taken by Polda Metro Jaya investigators against Roy Suryo—including a search, arrest, and detention—were unlawful. The ruling was delivered in a pretrial hearing that examined the validity of the investigators’ actions in the case against Roy Suryo.

“Granted the pretrial motion of the applicant in part,” said I Ketut Darpawan while reading the verdict. In his consideration, the judge stated that the search conducted by investigators based on a house and other closed premises search warrant was unlawful. Furthermore, the judge also declared that Roy Suryo’s arrest was unlawful, as was his detention.
