Jakarta — A wall collapsed onto the grounds of SMPN 182 Kalibata, Pancoran, South Jakarta. Police have confirmed there were no fatalities or injuries in the incident.

“There were zero casualties,” said Pancoran Police Chief Kompol Mansur when contacted on Monday (16/2/2026).

Mansur said the wall collapsed at approximately 11.30 WIB on Sunday (15/2). He stated that his team would investigate the cause of the collapse.

“We are investigating what caused this — how could it collapse from one end to the other? Was there no prior knowledge of warning signs? If there were, why weren’t supports installed or repairs carried out? That is the direction of our investigation,” he added.

He said the investigation was being conducted to prevent such incidents from recurring. He pledged to provide the public with updates on the examination related to the investigation.

“This is a public facility that has been affected, so we need to ensure this does not happen again. The residential property is adjacent to the school, so they need to be more careful. We need to identify the contributing factors so this is not repeated,” Mansur said.

CCTV footage captured the moment the school wall collapsed on Sunday afternoon. The video went viral on social media.
