Police Confirm Four Family Members in Kledung Died from Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

Police have confirmed that the deaths of four family members while staying at a tourist area in Kledung, Temanggung Regency, Central Java, were caused by carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning originating from a stove inside their tent. Temanggung Police Chief Adjunct Senior Commissioner Zamrul Aini stated in Semarang that the lethal CO gas, which caused the victims to suffocate, came from a stove provided for warmth. According to him, this conclusion was based on the results of the crime scene investigation, forensic laboratory tests, and an autopsy performed on one of the victims. “The stove should have been placed outside according to the management’s instructions, but it was brought inside the tent instead,” he said during the case disclosure on Monday (15/6/2026).
