Police confirm Bersatu Harmoni Nusantara Carnival at Monas is safe and orderly

Central Jakarta Police Chief Senior Commissioner Reynold E.P. Hutagalung has confirmed that security for the Bersatu Harmoni Nusantara Carnival in the National Monument (Monas) area of Central Jakarta proceeded safely and in an orderly manner.

“Together with the Indonesian National Armed Forces and all relevant stakeholders, we carried out maximum security measures to ensure that the Bersatu Harmoni Nusantara Carnival, held in conjunction with the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence, could take place safely, in an orderly fashion, and smoothly,” Reynold said in a statement in Jakarta on Monday evening.

He explained that the security operation was conducted to safeguard the series of events attended by President Prabowo Subianto, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, and a number of state officials, including Indonesian National Armed Forces Commander General Agus Subiyanto and National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo.

The Bersatu Harmoni Nusantara Carnival formed part of the celebrations marking the 81st anniversary of Indonesian independence.

The event began with the “Sabang-Merauke: Only Indonesia Has It” performance, which showcased arts and culture from various regions.

The programme then continued with a decorated float carnival involving ministries, agencies, and government institutions, featuring decorations themed around culture, diversity, and unity.

Reynold urged members of the public in attendance to help maintain security and order and to follow the instructions of officers throughout the event.

He expressed hope that the public would enjoy the independence celebrations in an orderly manner while preserving the spirit of unity.

“We urge the public to work together to maintain public order and security, follow the instructions of officers on the ground, and refrain from any actions that could disrupt the proceedings,” he said.
