Jakarta — The Head of the National Police Traffic Corps (Kakorlantas) Polri, Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, stated that traffic conditions along the 2026 Eid holiday exodus route throughout Sunday (15 March) showed no signs of significant congestion.

“We report that current traffic flow is quite manageable. So far, no density has been evident,” Inspector General Agus said in a press statement on Monday (16 March).

“However, those on toll roads so far account for approximately 25 per cent who have already departed Jakarta, heading towards Trans-Java, Bandung, and Sumatra,” he added.

Agus assessed that the policy restricting vehicles with three or more axles during the exodus period had proven effective. According to him, this joint policy was sufficiently strategic as traffic flow on toll roads and arterial roads remained relatively under control.

Over the past two days, authorities conducted public outreach and began taking firm enforcement action in the field. “If there are still vehicles with three or more axles using toll roads, as this is part of our joint commitment, we have instructed that they be subject to enforcement,” he stressed.

From the perspective of public security and order (kamtibmas), he reported no notable criminal incidents. Conditions at various major transport hubs such as stations, airports, and terminals were also monitored to be reasonably under control.

He expressed hope that travellers could depart and return safely.
