Banten Provincial Police held a City Security System Simulation (Sispam Kota) for securing the Labour Day or May Day demonstration. The police prepared various security strategies.

The simulation took place at Banten Police Headquarters in Serang City on Monday (20/4/2026). Attendees included Banten Police Chief Inspector General Hengki, Banten Deputy Governor Achmad Dimyati Natakusuma, Banten Deputy Police Chief Brigadier General Hendra Wirawan, and Commander of Reserve Unit 064/Maulana Yusuf Lieutenant Colonel Infantry Bayu Sigit Dwi Untoro.

In the security simulation, a demonstration was depicted ending in chaos. Several demonstrators acted as if they were damaging public facilities and setting them ablaze with Molotov cocktails.

The police then proceeded to extinguish the fire and attempted to disperse the crowd. The police subsequently secured several individuals deemed as provocateurs.

“In this simulation, the stages of escalation were demonstrated, starting from a conducive situation, provocation, throwing objects at officers, to destruction and looting by protesters, including the potential infiltration by anarchist groups as occurred in August-September 2025,” said Inspector General Hengki.

Hengki stated that the activity was a preparation by Banten Police in collaboration with the local government, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and related agencies. He said the police would provide a sense of security to workers and the public during the Labour Day commemoration.

“This activity is a manifestation of Banten Police’s readiness, together with the local government, TNI, and related agencies, in providing security to workers, while also ensuring the readiness of personnel, facilities, infrastructure, and procedures through the Sispam Kota Training in securing demonstrations, both during May Day and other events,” said Hengki.

Hengki mentioned that there has already been communication between the police and the Confederation of Indonesian Prosperity Trade Unions (KSPSI). He noted that there is no information yet about demonstrations in the Banten Police jurisdiction.

“Instead, we are conducting positive activities such as health and social services together with TNI-Polri, the government, and the community, including free health checks and entertainment like fishing mania. These activities will be held in Serang on 3 May, as well as in Tangerang Regency and Serang City on 2 or 3 May,” he said.

Banten Police will also escort groups of workers heading to the May Day commemoration in Jakarta. He hopes that the series of Labour Day activities will run smoothly.

“In addition, we will escort workers heading to Monas in Jakarta on 1 May to ensure smooth traffic flow and a conducive situation,” he said.
