Police Conduct Health Check on Taufik Hidayat, Suspect in Girlfriend Confinement Case in Bandung
Police have arrested Taufik Hidayat (30), a suspect in a case involving the abuse and confinement of his girlfriend, identified by the initials YTR (29), in Bandung, West Java. Taufik underwent a health examination immediately after being apprehended by officers. “We will check the suspect’s health first,” said West Java Police Chief Inspector General Rudi Setiawan when contacted on Tuesday (23/6/2026). Taufik’s confinement actions are currently under public scrutiny. The perpetrator was successfully arrested tonight in the Majalaya area. “He has been secured in Majalaya,” Rudi stated. In addition to conducting the health examination, police will gather information from Taufik. The West Java Regional Police will hold a press conference regarding the case tomorrow. “It will be released tomorrow,” said West Java Police Public Relations Head, Commissioner Hendra Rochmawan. Images of Taufik at the time of his arrest have also circulated. He was seen sitting in the back seat of a police vehicle with his hands bound with yellow cable ties. Taufik appeared to be wearing a dark hoodie and grey trousers while holding a bottle of mineral water. His hair has been cut short with shaved sides, a stark contrast to the wanted poster photo previously released by police during the manhunt.
