Police Conduct Forensic Laboratory Tests on Chemical Container Used in Attack on KontraS Activist
Police are conducting forensic laboratory (labfor) tests in the case of an acid attack against KontraS activist Andrie Yunus. Forensic laboratory examinations are being conducted on objects discovered at the scene.
“We are currently conducting forensic laboratory tests on evidence found at the scene of the crime,” said the Head of Criminal Investigation at Metro Jaya Police Regional Office (Dirkrimum Polda Metro Jaya), Senior Commissioner Iman Imanuddin, on Monday (16 March 2026).
Objects being tested include the helmet worn by the victim and the chemical container. Investigators hope to find the suspect’s fingerprints and DNA traces on the container and other examined items.
“These are the helmet and container suspected of being used to hold the chemical liquid. We very much hope that the results of the forensic laboratory test will reveal fingerprints from the perpetrator,” he said.
“We also hope to find DNA from the perpetrator on the helmet in question. Regarding suspects or perpetrators, we should note that we have not yet taken any coercive measures,” Iman added.
Using Scientific Crime Investigation Methods
Previously, the Head of Metro Jaya Police Regional Office (Kapolda), Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, stated that police continue to investigate the acid attack case against KontraS Vice Coordinator Andrie Yunus. He said the case would be pursued using methods that could be proven scientifically.
“Since the information was first received, the Metro Jaya Police Regional Office and the National Police Headquarters have taken action using scientific crime investigation,” said Inspector General Asep.
He said the scientific investigation was conducted through checks on the victim’s condition and statements, gathering information from witnesses, processing the crime scene, preparing a medical report and inventory, and collecting other evidence.
The acid attack case is being investigated by a joint team from the Criminal Investigation Unit of Central Jakarta Metro Police and the General Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimum) of Metro Jaya Police Regional Office.
“All these steps are taken to ensure that the incident can be revealed objectively based on facts, evidence and valid statements,” he explained.
