Police have deployed ‘Blue Light’ patrols along the Bypass Ida Bagus Mantra in Gianyar Regency, Bali, to anticipate illegal street racing that frequently occurs on this route.

“The patrols are being conducted to maintain traffic security and safety, as well as to anticipate illegal racing activities on weekend nights,” stated the Head of Traffic Unit of Gianyar Police, AKP Rike Astuti, in a statement on Sunday (7/6/2026).

Rike noted that the patrols take place between 00:00 and 02:30 WITA. Officers sweep several locations that are frequent gathering points at night, including supermarket areas and other spots along the Bypass Ida Bagus Mantra route.

No illegal racing activities were reported during the patrol. Only a few residents found at a supermarket were given reminders to maintain public order and adhere to traffic regulations.

“The presence of personnel in the field also aims to increase public awareness to always obey traffic rules for collective safety,” said Rike.

Rike added that illegal racing on the Ida Bagus Mantra road often results in accidents, which has caused concern among local residents. Consequently, such patrols will continue to be conducted routinely, particularly on weekend nights, to ensure public safety and maintain a conducive traffic situation.
