Police completes Rizieq's dossiers
JAKARTA: City Police chief Insp. Gen. Makbul Padmanagara said Wednesday that police had completed the dossiers for Habieb Rizieq Shihab, the chairman of the radical Islamic Defenders Front (FPI).
Rizieq was charged for instigating violence during a series of violent raids on nightclubs and entertainment centers across the city committed by the FPI members since 2001.
In addition to the charges, Makbul said Rizieq was also charged with additional charges for expressing hatred against the government in public as well as scolding government officers.
If convicted, he can face a maximum of seven years in jail.
Rizieq had been detained for about one month, but was released by the police late last year.--JP
