Police Commissioner Suyudi Ario Arrives at Palace Ahead of National Police Chief Inauguration
Police Commissioner Suyudi Aritno Seto arrived at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta ahead of his inauguration as the National Police Chief on Thursday (1/10).
He was seen wearing his Daily Service Uniform (PDH). Prior to Suyudi’s arrival, the outgoing National Police Chief, General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, was also present at the location. There have been rumours suggesting that Listyo may be appointed as the Head of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), replacing Dudung Abdurahman.
Previously, during his fitness and propriety test at Commission III of the House of Representatives (DPR), Suyudi stated that he is prepared to be judged by results rather than promises once entrusted with the role of National Police Chief.
“If I am given this mandate, I am ready to be judged by results, not by promises,” said Suyudi.
He also mentioned that he would ensure his leadership is accountable to the constitution, maintain oversight of the House of Representatives (DPR), respect legal processes, work alongside supervisory institutions, and open space for public correction.
For him, the position of National Police Chief represents the pinnacle of responsibility. He does not want the success of the Indonesian National Police (Polri) to be measured by the number of slogans, applications, operations, meetings, or publications.
According to him, the police succeed when the public feels safer, reports are more easily accepted, assistance arrives more quickly, cases are more certain, victims are protected, the law is applied fairly, members with integrity have a future, and deviations can be corrected without having to wait for them to go viral.
“I want the future success of Polri to be judged not by the number of slogans, applications, operations, meetings, or publications. But by what is truly felt: that the community is safer, reports are more easily accepted, help arrives faster, cases are more certain, victims are protected, the law is applied fairly, members with integrity have a future, and deviations can be corrected without having to wait for them to go viral,” he explained.
