Police Commissioner Asep Edi Suheri Appointed Inspector General of Supervision, Inspector General Dadang Named Metro Jaya Chief
National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto has appointed Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri as the new Inspector General of Supervision (Irwasum). Asep succeeds Commissioner General Wahyu Widada, who has been reassigned to the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/National Land Agency (ATR/BPN).
Asep previously served as the Metro Jaya Regional Police Chief. The vacancy left by his departure will be filled by Inspector General Dadang Hartanto, who formerly served as the Maluku Regional Police Chief.
This reshuffle within the National Police Headquarters is detailed in the National Police Chief’s Telegram Letter Number ST/2205/X/KEP./2026, dated 2 October 2026.
The Head of the National Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, stated that the mutation is part of organisational dynamics to maintain the continuity of duties while providing opportunities for career development.
“Mutation and rotation of positions are part of the National Police organisational dynamics. This is carried out according to organisational needs as well as being part of career development and refreshment in the execution of policing duties,” Johnny said in a statement in Jakarta on Saturday (3/10).
Several key positions within the National Police Headquarters have also seen leadership changes. The Head of Criminal Investigation (Kabareskrim), previously held by Commissioner General Syahardiantono, is now held by Inspector General Asep Safrudin.
Other new appointments include Inspector General Herry Heryawan as Head of the Security Maintenance Agency (Baharkam), Inspector General Dedy Kusuma Bakarni as Head of Intelligence (Kabaintelkam), Commissioner General Asep Edi Suheri as Inspector General of Supervision (Irwasum), and Inspector General Rudi Darmoko as Head of the Education and Training Institute (Kalemdiklat).
Furthermore, 19 Regional Police Chiefs have been replaced, including the chiefs for Metro Jaya, West Java, East Java, Central Java, and North Sumatra, among others.
A total of 88 personnel have been mutated, with 70 personnel receiving promotions or moving into new roles. The reshuffle also includes rank advancements for 21 personnel, as well as adjustments to the positions of several high-ranking and mid-ranking officers.
Johnny noted that officials entrusted with new responsibilities are expected to adapt quickly and continue the programmes and duties within their respective units.
“Every personnel member entrusted with a new position is certainly expected to perform their duties to the best of their ability, continue ongoing tasks, and provide optimal policing services to the public,” said Johnny.
