Police Collaborate with LPSK to Secure Restitution for Printing Shop Confinement Victims
The Central Jakarta Metro Police are collaborating with the Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) in handling the case of three employees confined at the ‘Mau Print’ printing shop in Senen, Central Jakarta. The effort aims to ensure the victims receive protection and their right to restitution. “Furthermore, investigators have coordinated with LPSK to provide protection for the victims and to assist with restitution rights as stipulated in Article 66 Paragraph 1 letter d of Law No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code regarding additional penalties in the form of compensation,” said Central Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Commissioner Reynold EP Hutagalung, during a press conference at the Metro Jaya Police Headquarters, Jakarta, Friday (3/7/2026).
Restitution rights refer to the right of a crime victim to receive compensation from the perpetrator or a third party for the suffering, material, or immaterial losses they have experienced. The Police Chief stated that this effort is a manifestation of law enforcement that not only provides a deterrent effect for the perpetrators but also delivers beneficial law. “Furthermore, the investigation process carried out is not only to provide a deterrent effect to the perpetrators but also to present a law that is beneficial for the recovery of the victims’ condition, both physically and psychologically,” he added.
He added that Central Jakarta Metro Police investigators are striving for maximum results by collaborating with the Metro Jaya Police Human Resources Bureau, the Metro Jaya Police Medical and Health Division (Biddokes), and other relevant stakeholders for comprehensive handling. In addition to ensuring the legal process runs optimally, investigators are also undertaking physical and psychological recovery efforts for the victims by involving competent parties. “We have also deployed with the Metro Jaya Police Biddokes for physical recovery, namely the health of the victims, by conducting direct examinations on the three victims, including check-ups and the immediate provision of medication to aid their recovery,” he continued.
Seven suspects have been named and detained at the Central Jakarta Metro Police detention centre. The suspects consist of five men and two women, identified by the initials CML and II. They were detained in stages, with four suspects arrested on Saturday (27/6) and the remaining three on Sunday (28/6). The seven suspects are charged with alleged criminal acts of extortion and threats, and/or deprivation of a person’s liberty and coercion, and/or persecution, as stipulated in Article 482 and/or Article 466 and/or Article 471 of Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code.
