Police Clarify That Allegations Regarding Sutrimo's Connection to Febrie Adriansyah Are Not the Focus of Investigation
The mystery surrounding the death of Sutrimio has finally gained clarity following investigations by the Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police (Polda Metro Jaya). The police stated that they found no indications of criminal activity in the man’s death.
Amidst the investigation process, rumours emerged suggesting that Sutrimo was the Head of Household (Karumga) for Febrie Adriansyah, the former Head of the Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes at the Attorney General’s Office. However, Polda Metro Jaya emphasised that this background is not the primary focus of the investigators. From the outset, the police have directed the investigation towards uncovering the actual cause of Sutrimo’s death.
Deputy Director of General Criminal Investigation at Polda Metro Jaya, Assistant Commissioner I Dewa P.G. Anom Danujaya, stated that investigators are relying on forensic medical results and various facts uncovered during the investigation process. “Regarding the background, we are focusing on the victim, the results from forensic medicine, and the facts we have gathered,” he said, as quoted on Thursday (1/10/26).
In addition to witness examinations, the police have also analysed CCTV footage and conducted an exhumation of Sutrimo’s remains. This entire series of actions was undertaken to answer the primary questions in this case: the victim’s condition and the cause of death.
“The investigation process we are conducting, as mentioned, is to determine the victim’s condition, the cause of death, and the nature of the electronic evidence we have found, so that we can reach a conclusion,” he added.
Although the police have presented their investigative conclusions, the case of Sutrimo’s death is not entirely closed if new facts emerge. Anom noted that investigators could reopen the investigation if new evidence, or ‘novum’, is discovered related to the case.
“In the investigation process, if new evidence is found in the future, the investigation can be conducted again. Basically, our investigation is focused on the criminal aspects,” he said.
Previous examinations by the Forensic Laboratory Team stated that Sutrimo died due to ischaemic heart disease. Examinations of the body also found no wounds or traces of poison. Sutrimo’s condition had previously drawn attention because, when he was found unconscious, there was foam around his mouth. This finding was subsequently examined as part of the medical and forensic investigation series.
