Polda Metro Jaya conducted public security operations in Jakarta and surrounding areas on Friday (28/8/2026). Police claimed that public activities on Friday morning continued as usual, including office work, education, trade, and citizen mobility.

Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, said the police continue to monitor the situation and adjust measures on the ground according to public needs.

“The most important thing at present is to maintain a calm atmosphere so that the public can carry out their activities properly. We urge all parties to exercise restraint, not be provoked, and not spread unverified information,” Budi said today.

Budi stated that traffic management and public services are being carried out situationally, taking into account developments on the ground. He said that space for expressing aspirations must still be respected, while ensuring the rights of other citizens to work, study, do business, and use public spaces remain protected.

“Jakarta is a shared space. Aspirations must have a place, public activities must continue, and everyone’s safety must be safeguarded. Let us maintain a calm atmosphere by respecting one another and placing the common interest above differences,” Budi said.

It is known that several areas in Jakarta experienced security escalations following the end of the 27 August demonstration. Some members of the crowd suddenly caused trouble and rioting, including in Pejompongan, which briefly disrupted KRL services.
