Police Chief Urges Riau Officers to Listen and Respond Quickly to Public Complaints
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo delivered a strong message to the Riau Regional Police and its subordinate precincts during the inauguration of 80 ‘Merah Putih Presisi’ bridges in Bumi Lancang Kuning. General Sigit urged all ranks to listen to and respond quickly to the complaints and problems within the community. The statement was made after a dialogue session with residents from various areas of Riau Province, both those present at the location in South Dumai District, Dumai City, and others joining virtually, on Wednesday (8/7/2026).
Initially, the Police Chief expressed his appreciation to all Riau police chiefs, the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), and the public for their collaboration in constructing the Merah Putih Presisi bridges in the province. To date, the Riau Regional Police have completed the construction of 110 bridges across all cities and regencies.
Accompanied by Riau Police Chief Inspector General Herry Heryawan, General Sigit also advised the public not to hesitate in reporting problems in their neighbourhoods through the proper chain of command. ‘If there is an issue, do not be reluctant to speak with the local police chief. If it cannot be resolved, report it to the regional police chief, and if that fails, convey it to the National Police Chief,’ he said.
He further instructed all police precinct and sector ranks to listen to and respond swiftly to public grievances. ‘I entrust you to ensure that the problems within the community are truly heard and responded to quickly, so that the difficulties faced by the public, especially those related to police duties, can be resolved,’ the Police Chief stated.
On the occasion, General Sigit also called on the public, the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), and the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum to synergise with the police in maintaining a conducive situation. He acknowledged that the police cannot work alone and requires support from the community and relevant stakeholders. ‘Therefore, let us work together to maintain the environment and public order situation, as this is our main asset to continue building,’ he said.
Closing the dialogue, the Police Chief conveyed greetings from President Prabowo Subianto to all residents of Riau Province. ‘Once again, thank you, congratulations, and as the National Police Chief, I also bring greetings from the President. I hope this will be beneficial for the children and the entire community,’ he concluded.
