Police Chief urges officers to provide best service during Eid return flow period
Jakarta (ANTARA) - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has urged his ranks to provide the best possible service to the public during the Eid al-Fitr return flow period in 2026. Quoting an official statement, Sigit, speaking from the Command Centre at ITDC in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Tuesday, noted that the peak of the 2026 Eid return flow is expected to occur today. Nevertheless, the dispersal of returnees is projected to continue until Friday (27/3), in line with the implementation of the work from anywhere (WFA) policy. In particular, he mentioned that several tourist destinations such as Bali, Yogyakarta, Pangandaran, Cianjur, and Puncak in Bogor are experiencing an increase in visitors during the Eid holiday period. Therefore, he instructed field officers to prepare security and service measures for the Eid return flow, from traffic engineering schemes to sea crossings. Moreover, the number of people travelling home exceeded initial predictions from the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), so the number returning will also surpass the forecasted figures for outbound travellers. “Primarily in Ketapang, as the return flow will not only head to Bali for work but may also include additional tourists who have not yet completed their trips,” he said. He also requested that the low traffic accident and fatality rates achieved during the outbound flow be maintained until Operation Ketupat concludes. “This is certainly our emphasis so that these figures can be sustained until the entire return flow series is complete,” he stated. Furthermore, the leader of the Bhayangkara Corps urged all ranks to mitigate potential adverse weather during the Eid return flow, especially in eastern regions and vulnerable crossing points prone to weather disruptions. “Thus, the engineering and management can be improved in conditions where unwanted incidents might occur due to extreme weather,” he added.
