Police Chief to Grant Extraordinary Promotion to Late Brigadier Arya Supena
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo will grant an extraordinary promotion (KPLB) to Brigadier Arya Supena (32), a member of the State Security Intelligence (Kamneg) of the Lampung Regional Police (Polda), who died while attempting to foil a motorcycle theft (curanmor). “I have already requested that he be given the KPLB for his service until he fell in the line of duty,” said General Sigit when confirmed by Kompas.com on Sunday (10/5/2026). “As the highest appreciation and honour from the institution,” he emphasised. As is known, Brigadier Arya passed away after being shot by robbers in the yard of Yussy Akmal Shop, Labuhan Ratu, Bandar Lampung, on Saturday morning (9/5/2026). Brigadier Arya’s passing leaves a deep wound for his wife, Jovita, and their two young children. The tragic incident began around 05:30 WIB. At that time, Brigadier Arya, who was passing by, saw two suspicious men damaging the ignition key of a resident’s motorcycle. The bullet hit the right side of the victim’s head, penetrating to the left side. Based on a 1 minute 42 second CCTV recording at the scene, Brigadier Arya was involved in a struggle and physical duel with the perpetrators before finally collapsing due to a close-range shot. After shooting the victim, the two perpetrators immediately fled on a motorcycle together. They pointed a firearm at a cleaning officer at the scene to clear the way while escaping.
