Police Chief Superintendent Jerrold Grateful for Trust as Flag-Lowering Commander at State Palace

Police Chief Superintendent Jerrold Hendra Yosef Kumontoy recounted his experience after being entrusted as Commander of the Red and White Flag-Lowering Ceremony in the series of events for the 81st Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the State Palace, Jakarta, on Monday (17/8/2026). The Balikpapan Police Chief received the trust after undergoing a selection process alongside selected officers from the TNI and Polri.

Jerrold said that the opportunity to represent the Polri in the selection process until finally being entrusted as ceremony commander was an experience for which he was grateful.

“For me, being selected to represent the Polri up to this point is something I am very grateful for. I gained a great deal of experience,” said Jerrold on Monday (17/8/2026).

The appointment was one of the honourable duties undertaken by Jerrold in his journey of service to the Indonesian National Police. He was given the mandate to lead one of the main processions in the series of events commemorating Indonesia’s Independence Day at the State Palace.

Jerrold is a son of Minahasa, born in Tomohon, with ties to Tondano, North Sulawesi. The trust also brought him to represent the Polri in the state ceremony for the 81st Anniversary of Indonesia’s Independence.

Before being entrusted as ceremony commander, Jerrold had to undergo a selection process alongside selected officers from the TNI and Polri. That process then led him to receive the task of leading the flag-lowering ceremony at the State Palace.

Jerrold currently serves as Balikpapan Police Chief. The task as ceremony commander at the Palace became another experience in his career journey as a Polri officer.
