Police Chief States Investigators Secure 86 CCTV Recordings to Uncover Perpetrators of Andrie Yunus Acid Attack
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that investigators have secured 86 CCTV recordings to uncover the identity of the perpetrators who threw sulphuric acid at KontraS activist Andrie Yunus.
“Of course, we are not stopping there. We are also seeking sources of information, other evidence, and additional exhibits,” he said after attending the launch of free homecoming travel at Metro Jaya Police Headquarters on Wednesday (18/3).
He emphasised that these steps are a follow-up to President Prabowo Subianto’s instructions to thoroughly investigate the case.
“Yesterday, the President clearly ordered us to investigate it thoroughly, and of course, the National Police is currently working on it,” Listyo said.
According to him, all the evidence collected will be combined to clarify the case construction. He assured that his subordinates are working maximally to hunt down the perpetrators.
“I think at this time all our members are working, and we ask for prayers so that the results can be obtained soon,” he stressed.
On the other hand, the TNI is also conducting an internal investigation regarding allegations of military personnel involvement in the case. TNI Information Centre Head Major General TNI Aulia Dwi Nasrullah stated that this step is a response to issues circulating in society.
“Since the incident, the TNI has responded by conducting an internal investigation,” Aulia said at the TNI Information Centre Hall, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (17/3).
He emphasised that the investigation is being carried out independently by the TNI to verify the circulating information.
“Because we are responding to what is developing in society, we investigate it. The results will then be conveyed,” he said.
Aulia assured that the process involves law enforcement apparatus within the TNI and is conducted according to applicable mechanisms. He also stressed that his institution will be open about the investigation results.
“The TNI works professionally and transparently. We will update and convey it later,” he stressed.
