South Lampung (ANTARA) - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that the number of returnees to Jakarta on H+6 of Eid al-Fitr 2026 reached 2,561,629 people.

“The actual outbound traffic volume from Jakarta was 2,946,891, and the inbound return to Jakarta so far is 2,561,629, leaving 385,262 or 13.07 percent,” the Police Chief said in Bakauheni on Saturday.

According to him, although public mobility during the Eid al-Fitr 2026 holiday period was high, it was well managed thanks to cross-sectoral synergy and the use of technology in traffic management.

“This means that overall, we see that the peak return flow has been passed, and only 13.07 percent remains to be handled now,” he said.

“So, traffic accidents at present have decreased by 7.8 percent compared to last year, while fatalities, namely deaths, have dropped by 112 people compared to last year, from 377 to 265,” he stated.

According to the Police Chief, this condition shows an improvement in the development of mudik services by the Indonesian National Police. One dimension developed by the police is child-friendly services.

“With the engineering patterns that have been prepared, starting from the delaying system, buffer zone, to arrangements related to ticket checks, alhamdulillah, everything can be maintained so that the situation remains normal or green,” he said.

“Of course, I once again urge the public, especially those still undertaking fairly long journeys, to be really careful,” the Police Chief said.

He also asked the public to utilise the service posts that have been prepared for resting.

“Rest areas and buffer zones have been prepared by the government; make good use of them so that once the condition has recovered and is fit again, please continue the journey so that everyone can truly arrive at their destination safely,” he said.
