National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo stated that his force has successfully uncovered the circulation of narcotics worth Rp10.4 trillion throughout 2026. He made the statement during his address before President Prabowo Subianto at the 80th Bhayangkara Day ceremony at the Brimob Cikeas training ground in Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday (1/7). “In breaking the chain of drug distribution in 2026, the National Police uncovered 24,837 cases and named 32,792 suspects,” he explained. Sigit detailed that from the tens of thousands of cases uncovered, the police also seized evidence including 3.1 tonnes of crystal methamphetamine, 4.1 tonnes of cannabis, 763,000 ecstasy pills, and 59.2 million prescription drug tablets. He stated that through the seizure of these illicit goods, the police managed to save 89 million lives from the dangers of drug abuse. “The National Police is also striving to transform 148 drug villages, which have now become drug-free villages,” he said. On another front, Sigit noted that efforts to prevent state financial losses are also ongoing through the establishment of the Task Force for Optimising State Revenue and the Law Enforcement Task Force for Smuggling Crimes. He mentioned that since its formation in December 2025, the Smuggling Task Force has uncovered 47 cases and named 24 suspects. “One prominent case is the uncovering of the criminal act of smuggling 28 tonnes of tin to Malaysia,” he stated.
