Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has revealed that President Prabowo Subianto has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the acid attack against Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS).

“I have received a direct order from the President to conduct a thorough and professional investigation with full transparency,” Sigit told journalists in Surabaya, East Java, on Sunday (15 March).

Sigit stated that his office would employ scientific crime investigation to fully expose the acid attack. “We will utilise scientific crime investigation methods. We are currently gathering information that we will examine in detail one by one,” he said.

The incident occurred on the evening of Thursday, 12 March, when Andrie Yunus was attacked in central Jakarta. According to KontraS Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya, the assault happened after Yunus attended a podcast discussion titled “Remilitarisation and Judicial Review in Indonesia” at the Indonesian Legal Aid Foundation (YLBHI) office, around 23:00 local time.

“He suffered serious injuries across his body, particularly on both hands, face, chest, and eyes caused by an unknown assailant spraying acid,” Dimas stated in a written statement on Friday, 13 March.

Dimas also provided descriptions of the suspected perpetrators. The first suspect wore a white-and-blue combination shirt, dark trousers believed to be jeans, and a black helmet. The second suspect, who was a passenger, wore a black face covering or mask resembling a buff that covered half the face, a dark blue shirt, and blue trousers that were rolled up and reportedly made of denim.
