Police Chief Promotes Late Brigadier Fajar After Mudik Security Duty
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has conveyed condolences following the passing of Brigadier Fajar Permana, a member of the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate, who died while on mudik security duty. The police have lost one of their dedicated young officers.
“Innalilahi wa innailaihi rojiun, as the leader of the National Police, I extend my condolences for the passing of our member who was carrying out his duties,” said General Sigit to reporters on Monday (23/3/2026).
“May the deceased be granted a good end, and may his entire bereaved family be given strength and patience,” he added.
The Police Chief appreciated Brigadier Fajar’s dedication during the mudik security operations. The police will also grant him an extraordinary posthumous promotion.
“To honour the services of the deceased, we request an extraordinary rank promotion (KPLB) posthumously. Thank you for his devoted service in carrying out duties to provide the best service and dedication to the community and the institution,” stated the Police Chief.
Previously, the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Police, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, announced the news of Brigadier Fajar’s passing. The deceased is suspected to have suffered from physical exhaustion and respiratory issues after standing guard at community service points.
“Metro Jaya Police deeply regrets the loss of a highly dedicated young Bhayangkara figure like the late Brigadier Fajar Permana. He breathed his last after fulfilling the state’s mandate. Preliminary suspicions indicate that his physical condition deteriorated drastically due to exhaustion after marathon duties in the field to serve the public,” Budi told reporters.
Budi stated that Metro Jaya Police will provide a final tribute and fulfil all the rights of the deceased, as well as provide compensation for the bereaved family. This incident has also become a serious concern for leadership to continue evaluating and monitoring the health conditions of personnel still on duty in the field.
According to Budi, Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri has instructed the Medical and Health Division (Biddokkes) of Metro Jaya Police to be more proactive in conducting routine health checks at security posts. This step is taken to ensure that every member remains in prime condition amid the high operational tensions during the mudik and return Lebaran period.
“The Police Chief has ordered the medical team to check on the health of members in the field. We ask for prayers from the entire community so that the late Brigadier Fajar Permana receives the best place by His side and the bereaved family is granted patience in facing this trial,” explained Budi.
