Police Chief Promotes Fallen Metro Police Officer Who Died During Eid Security Duties
National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has conveyed condolences over the passing of Brigadier Fajar Permana, a member of the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate, while performing security and service duties for Eid in 2026.
Brigadier Fajar passed away due to exhaustion and shortness of breath during his assignment to secure the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri holiday.
“Innalilahi Wa Innailaihi Rojiun. As the leader of the National Police, I extend my condolences for the loss of our member who was carrying out his duties,” Sigit told the media on Monday, 23 March 2026.
Sigit praised the entirety of Brigadier Fajar’s dedicated service in providing security and assistance to the public and the Bhayangkara Corps until his final moments.
Therefore, Sigit will grant an Extraordinary Promotion (KPLB) posthumously to honour and commemorate all of Brigadier Fajar’s dedication and contributions.
“To honour the services of the late, we request an extraordinary posthumous promotion. Thank you for his dedication in carrying out duties to provide the best service and commitment to the public and the institution,” Sigit stated.
Sigit also prayed for Brigadier Fajar to be granted the best place by His side, and for his bereaved family to be given patience and strength.
“May the late be granted a noble end, and may the entire bereaved family be given strength and fortitude. Amen,” Sigit said.
Brigadier Fajar Permana, a member of the Metro Jaya Police Traffic Directorate, passed away after becoming exhausted and experiencing shortness of breath following his duties securing the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri holiday.
Brigadier Fajar’s condition did not improve. That afternoon, he again complained of discomfort and requested to be taken to hospital for further medical treatment.
This incident adds sorrow amid the Eid festivities, particularly for the extended police family who were on duty to maintain security and smooth traffic flow during the homecoming and celebrations.
Metro Jaya Police have assured full attention and support for the bereaved family, as well as conducting an evaluation of field personnel’s health conditions to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
The late’s body is planned to be laid in state and buried by the family with official police honours as a final tribute to his service to the nation.
