JAKARTA - Indonesian National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo predicts that the number of people during the 2026 Eid return flow will exceed the volume during the outbound journey. This is based on the outbound flow that previously surpassed the Ministry of Transportation’s predictions. This condition, he said, has the potential to make the return flow larger than estimated. He explained that the peak return flow is expected to occur today. However, public movement is predicted to be more spread out until Friday (27/3/2026) in line with the implementation of the Work From Anywhere (WFA) policy. “This can also be an option for the public so that not everyone chooses to return today, thus helping to ease the peak return flow expected today,” Sigit stated. Furthermore, Sigit mentioned that high tourism activity in several areas such as Bali, Yogyakarta, Pangandaran, Cianjur, to the Puncak area is also driving public mobility during the return flow. He also instructed his ranks to ensure smooth traffic and security in tourist areas and ferry crossings. In addition, he requested that the achievements in reducing accident and fatality rates during the outbound flow be maintained until the end of Operation Ketupat 2026. “Of course, this is our emphasis so that until the return flow series is complete, those figures can be maintained,” he said. “We ask all members to really prepare themselves to face the possibility of bad weather, especially in crossing areas,” he added.
