Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has assured that the peak of the first post-Eid al-Fitr return traffic in 2026 has passed on Tuesday night (24/3). This was stated by Sigit after inspecting the Jasa Marga Toll Road Command Centre in Jatiasih, Bekasi, West Java, on Wednesday afternoon (25/3). He explained that based on data available until Wednesday at 12:00 WIB, the total number of vehicles entering Jakarta has reached approximately 2,040,000 units. Meanwhile, the peak return traffic recorded yesterday saw 256,338 vehicles entering the Jakarta and surrounding areas. “This is higher than last year, which was 223,163 vehicles. However, praise be to God, we see that the peak return traffic has roughly occurred last night; now we just need to disperse the rest,” he said. Therefore, Sigit stated that several adjustments to traffic engineering schemes have been made, including one-way segments and contraflow. Nevertheless, he reminded all his personnel to remain on alert and anticipate the second wave of return traffic that has not yet occurred. This is because there are still around 500,000 people returning to hometowns who are in their villages and have not yet returned to Jakarta. “That is our homework to disperse in activities related to the peak return traffic,” he added. On the same occasion, Sigit advised return travellers to prioritise safety and rest if they feel fatigued. “There are rest areas on toll roads, as well as rest places on arterial routes, such as service posts, integrated posts, or weighbridge routes that have been prepared,” he said.
