Police chief pays his condolences
DILI: National Police Chief Lt. Gen. Dibyo Widodo paid a surprise visit here yesterday to console the families of the Baucau ambush victims.
Widodo was met at Comoro airport by East Timor Vice Governor Johanes Hariwibowo, local police chief Col. Jusuf Mucharam, and deputy head of Wira Dharma Military Command Col. Soekotjo HS.
Soekotjo said that Dibyo would fly to Baucau on a special aircraft.
He said the police chief would also visit Company A of the police's mobile brigade in Bairro Pite village, which was attacked by a security disturbance group on the eve of the May 29 general election.
The police and military here continue to search for members the group which ambushed the group of 26 policemen and two soldiers. (33)
