Jakarta - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo visited Merak Port in Banten on Friday to oversee mudik (homecoming) operations ahead of the Eid holiday, ensuring that the police and other stakeholders provide optimal service to travellers.

During the inspection, the police chief said several innovations have been introduced to help alleviate long-standing queue problems that occur annually.

“We have added buffer zones and new port facilities, which are expected to help resolve congestion issues. There is also a command centre that will enable real-time traffic management, and the public can access information about the situation,” he said.

The National Police has also prepared security measures aboard ferries and across several areas in Lampung Province to anticipate security risks and maintain public order during the holiday period.

According to Sigit, the police have established service posts and security checkpoints along mudik routes across Indonesia. He encouraged the public to utilise these facilities if they require assistance.

“Please make use of the services we have provided, including field kitchen facilities and rest posts where people can take a break. We hope this mudik season will proceed safely and smoothly,” he said.

The police chief stated that all these services and security measures are in line with the instructions from President Prabowo Subianto, who has directed all agencies to provide maximum service to the public during the mudik and return journey for Eid.

“All relevant stakeholders will provide the best possible service in accordance with the President’s direction,” he added.
