Police Chief: Indonesian Police to Develop MEPE to Ensure Members Serve the Public Optimally
This was stated by the Police Chief during his attendance at the series of Technical Work Meetings (Rakernis) of the Indonesian Police Logistics Staff (Slog) for 2026. According to him, MEPE serves as an important reference to ensure that equipment support is adjusted to the characteristics and challenges in each region.
“We are currently also compiling the MEPE, with the hope that we will have standards related to Minimal Essential Police Equipment. So, the minimum standard equipment that we must possess,” said General Sigit at the Indonesian Police Slog Multipurpose Building in Cipinang, East Jakarta, on Tuesday (12/5/2026).
The Police Chief explained that this standardisation is part of the Indonesian Police’s efforts to always be ready with the support of existing equipment. With equipment that meets standards, it is hoped that personnel can carry out their duties maximally when engaging with the community.
“So that when the Indonesian Police appear and go out, they can truly carry out their main duties as optimally as possible,” he stated.
On that occasion, General Sigit also inaugurated a new logistics testing laboratory. This laboratory functions to ensure that the quality of uniforms and equipment for members meets the existing specifications.
The former Head of the Indonesian Police Criminal Investigation Agency also inspected the latest personal protective equipment that is resistant to arrow attacks, Molotov cocktails, and gunfire, to increase the confidence of members when facing conflict situations.
“This is all intended, of course, so that members can truly appear confident, especially in carrying out their activities to provide a sense of security for the community in facing various potential risks and threats,” he explained.
This logistical support is strengthened by the distribution of 430 operational vehicles, which include motorcycles, electric patrol cars, ambulances, and special vehicles for conflict areas such as Papua and regions affected by flood disasters.
He hopes that with the compilation of the MEPE standardisation and the modernisation of this equipment, the Indonesian Police Slog can continue to optimise support for operational functions. This aims to maintain the stability of security and public order, provide protection, guidance, and maximum law enforcement for the community.
“Our hope is that everything prepared here can certainly provide much better service to the community for the tasks carried out by the Indonesian Police institution,” concluded General Sigit.
