Police Chief Guarantees Impartial Legal Process in Dogiyai Case
Nabire (ANTARA) - The Central Papua Police Chief, Brigjen Pol. Jermias Rontini, has emphasised that the legal process related to the violence case in Dogiyai Regency, Central Papua, is being conducted transparently and without favouritism, whether against civilians or officials proven to have violated the law.
“We ensure there is no tolerance for anyone who violates the provisions. The legal process will proceed all the way to the courtroom,” he stated during a meeting with local government, legislators, and community leaders in Dogiyai on Thursday.
He conveyed that the primary goal of the police presence in Dogiyai is to restore a conducive atmosphere in the area following the incident that resulted in casualties among both civilians and officials.
To this end, the Central Papua Regional Police are opening avenues for dialogue and committing to openly report developments in the case handling to the public.
“We publicly apologise if there are any actions by police members that are unwelcome in the community,” he said.
To expedite the case handling, the Police Chief has appointed AKBP Denis A. Putra as Acting Dogiyai Police Chief. The officer has been given six months to resolve the case handling with support from Police Headquarters.
In addition to law enforcement aspects, the Police Chief also highlighted the importance of human resource development, particularly in education. He targets every district to have adequate primary schools and improvements in teacher welfare.
“What we sow is what we will reap. We hope all parties work according to their responsibilities,” he said.
He also invited all community elements to maintain a conducive situation and avoid anarchic actions. The local government has resolved the road blockade issue through a familial approach with local youth.
The Central Papua Regional Police will continue to coordinate with the local government and community leaders to ensure security in Dogiyai returns to stable and conducive conditions.
