Police Chief Gives Special Attention Following Acid Attack on KontraS Activist in Jakarta

National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has given special attention to the acid attack case targeting Andrie Yunus, Deputy Coordinator of the Commission for Missing Persons and Victims of Violence (KontraS). The victim was attacked by an unidentified person in Central Jakarta.

The Head of the Police Public Relations Division, Inspector General Johnny Eddizon Isir, confirmed that the police have moved swiftly by conducting a crime scene investigation and initiating intensive investigative procedures.

“Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has given special attention to this case. The National Police have undertaken crime scene handling procedures and the investigation process is currently ongoing,” Johnny stated in Jakarta on Friday, 13 March.

Johnny explained that the police are employing scientific crime investigation methods to identify the perpetrator and the motive behind the attack. The investigative team is currently examining evidence secured from the scene and conducting a thorough analysis of the crime scene investigation results.

“The National Police in law enforcement will undertake steps using scientific crime investigation methods by questioning witnesses who observed the incident,” Johnny clarified.

Johnny reported that victim Andrie Yunus is still undergoing intensive care at hospital due to burn injuries sustained in the attack. He expressed deep concern over the incident and hoped for the victim’s swift recovery.

To accelerate the case resolution, the police have appealed to members of the public who were present at the location during the incident or possess relevant information to report immediately to the police.

“We seek support and prayers from all members of the public so that the investigative and prosecution process can proceed smoothly. Investigators are continuing their analysis of the evidence to clarify the incident,” Johnny concluded.

The National Police Commission (Kompolnas) strongly condemned the acid attack on KontraS Deputy Coordinator Andrie Yunus in the Salemba area of Central Jakarta on Friday, 13 March 2026. KontraS has also urged the swift identification of the perpetrator responsible for the acid attack.
